After borrowing skirts, make-up and pantyhose from women, men have fallen for their corsets. Corsets might become one if the most wanted items this fashion season, for men.
Young Parisian corset specialist Sylvain Nuffer, foreseeing the trend making corsets for males four years ago. He sells approximately 30 corsets in an year and retails them at 500 to 600 euros (650 to 775 dollars) per piece.
Nuffer said,
I felt frustrated by the lack of choice of clothing for men. I made one for myself and they kind of multiplied.
Corsets are not a trend of modern day world. Their existence can be traced back to the medieval horsemen who wore them to safeguard their spine, the same reason for which they are worn by bikers these days.
Nuffer’s early creations were highly criticized as it was reasoned that a garment so damn stiff would be very uncomfortable. However, Laurent Renaud, who is a teacher at a fashion school wears a corset everyday. He says that,
I wear it over a shirt or under a sweater. I use it as daywear or to go out at night. The problem is you get so used to it keeping you straight that it gets difficult to go without.
After borrowing boyfriend jeans, girls can again raid their boyfriends’ wardrobe for lacy corsets.
